Fun Fall Activities in Dallas

Fun Fall Activities in Dallas

Are you planning a fall trip to Dallas for a fertility consultation, treatment appointment, or for a cycle of IVF? If so, autumn is one of our favorite times of the year. You’ll have plenty of free time on your hands around your scheduled appointments, which means you also have the opportunity to participate in some of our favorite Dallas-area fall activities.

5 Fun Things to Do in Dallas During the Fall Season

In case you somehow missed it, Dallas summers are hot and humid. That’s one of the reasons autumn is so celebrated ‘round these parts. Sunny warm days, cooler nights, and more reasonable humidity levels mean we can be outside comfortably.

Here are five things worth checking out as long as you’re staying in the area.

1. Date night mocktails at Paradiso

Are you missing your favorite cocktails in your efforts to prepare your body for pregnancy? Never fear. The mixologists at Paradiso feature mocktails on their menu. Some of our favorites are the Silent Dove (their booze-free take on a salty dog) and the Flight of the Bees (a sober Moscow Mule).

Paradiso is a full-service, Southern European-inspired restaurant is situated in an idyllic shaded garden. Enjoy brunch, lunch, or dinner on their outdoor patio or inside among lush greenery and bespoke furniture and artwork. If your partner is with you, Paradiso’s serene garden restaurant makes an ideal Date Night stop. Still, Paradiso is just as happy to accommodate a solo diner ready to relax, enjoy, and soak up some much-needed alone time.

2. Enjoy autumn-themed events at the Dallas Arboretum

The Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden comes alive during the fall, hosting a wide range of events. The overarching “Autumn at the Arboretum” theme is everywhere you look. However, specialty events abound, including their Cool Thursday Concert series, Oktoberfest, and #IfThenSheCan – The Exhibit. Check their events page and see if any of these align with your stay in Dallas.

And, if you return for future treatments, check out our page about favorite holiday events in Dallas, which also includes winter-themed events at the Arboretum.

3. Pumpkin Nights at Howell Family Farms

At Pumpkin Nights, you will venture along a half-mile walking path, where you’ll discover the Forbidden City, a Pirate’s Cove, and more fantastical lands built using over 5,000 hand-carved natural and artificial pumpkins. The celebration continues with entertainment and games in The Village, which serves as their festival area.

The event runs from September 22 through October 30th. Advance ticket purchase is required, so get yours early if this event is on your list of “want to dos” while you’re here.

4. State Fair of Texas

Fertility clinics with high fertility rates are used to attracting patients from out-of-state. If that’s you, we highly recommend visiting the State Fair of Texas, which runs from September 30th through October 23rd. At 24 consecutive days, the State Fair of Texas is the longest-running fair in the nation and one of the largest. Through its rich and lengthy history, it remains evident that the State Fair serves not only as an annual celebration but as a unique destination that brings people from all walks of life together to create lifelong memories. If you’re not from a farming or ranching community, you’ll feel like you are by the time you leave our fair. There is something for everyone. The rides and food are fun, but we recommend visiting the exhibits, where you can see arts, crafts, and talents of all kinds – some of which you may never have heard of before.

5. Turtle Creek Arts Festival

If you find yourself coming for a first consultation or treatment in November, see if you can time it to match with the Turtle Creek Fine Arts Festival. The event is a “twofer;” in addition to soaking up all of the area’s local artist creations, the event takes place in the community’s stunning 43-acre Reverchon Park.

Winding its way through the heart of Dallas, Turtle Creek is charming with its serene shores, manicured parks, walking paths, and neighborhood events – like this arts festival. We recommend taking extra time to explore the park and enjoy a nice walk or jog while you’re there.
