There’s no denying that Dallas and the surrounding metro areas are huge fans of the holiday season. Reindeer antlers and wreaths already adorn cars flying across the High Five Interchange, and it’s not even Thanksgiving yet.

The team here at the Fertility Center of Dallas are also eager fans, and we’ve put together a list of some of our favorite holiday activities in and around the Dallas-Fort Worth areas.
Here are the events, places, holiday activities where you’re most likely to find us in the next month or so. Most of them would make for a pretty romantic date night – just sayin’…
1. 12 Days of Christmas at the Arboretum
The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is always a beautiful space to be, but it comes uniquely alive – an a-light – as we approach the holidays. This year, Holiday at the Arboretum is featuring 12 Days of Christmas, from November 9th through December 31.
In addition to a gigantic, 30-foot Christmas tree located in the center of the gardens, you can stroll by 12 separate gazebos, each one featuring a famous scene from the classic holiday carol – geese, swans, pipers, and all. The historic DeGolyer House is also lavishly decorated in a European-style with greenery and fruit, with each room full of traditional holiday decorations.
While the 12 Days of Christmas is beautiful by day, we recommend visiting during the evening hours when the gardens are illuminated by more than 1 million lights. Please note: the nighttime feature ends on 12/29.
2. The Trans-Siberian Orchestra is Playing at the American Airlines Center
Several of us already have our tickets to the extraordinary Trans-Siberian Orchestra, who are performing at the American Airlines Center on December 22. There are two different shows – a 3:00 p.m. and an 8:00 p.m. showing. If you’re here in town pursuing fertility testing or treatment, we recommend hitting the earlier show so you can be back to your hotel or Airbnb in time to get a good night’s sleep.
More than just a concert, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra is a multi-dimensional art form of the rock opera – and the special effects are as impressive as the innovative music.
3. The Dallas Holiday Parade
It’s big, it’s bold, and it’s one-of-a-kind; the Dallas Holiday Parade is a community favorite and serves as an official “kick-off to the holiday season” for many of us Dallas natives. It always takes place the first Saturday in December, which is 12/7 this year. The parade begins at 10:00 a.m., and it usually takes a full two hours.
The parade route starts one block south of Main on Commerce and continues for eight blocks before routing south-east to finish on the corner of Young and Acaro. While the parade is free, we recommend springing for tickets if you prefer a comfortable place to sit down and a guaranteed view of the parade participants. Click Here for more information.
4. NYE in Dallas: Party on the Plaza
Experience a taste of the NYC New Year’s scene by partying on the Plaza. The NYE in Dallas: Party on the Plaza takes place right in front of the Dallas City Hall, from 7:00 p.m. on 12/31 to 12:30 a.m. on New Year’s morning.
Admission is free, and the entertainment is aplenty – including live performances from American Idol favorites CASTRO as well as the Emerald City Elevation Band. There are a ton of food trucks, so there’s no need to bring-your-own food unless you’re on a special diet. And, as those of us who’ve partied on the plaza before – we can assure you the firework display won’t disappoint.
