Is It Time to Visit a Fertility Specialist?
When you have been trying to conceive and haven’t been able to, fertility specialists can help determine what might be causing fertility problems. They can also provide you with guidance on treatment options to increase your chance of becoming pregnant. How do you know if it’s time to see a fertility specialist? Make an appointment if you meet any of the following signs.
Unsuccessful Attempts for One Year or More
If you have been trying to become pregnant for at least 1 year with no success, it’s important to see a fertility specialist. A specialist will run tests and check your medical history in order to figure out why you’re struggling with fertility.
Over 35 Years of Age
If you’re over 35 years old, you can see a specialist if you haven’t been able to get pregnant after 6 months rather than waiting for 1 year of trying. As you get older, the quality and number of eggs begins to decline, which makes it harder to conceive on your own. Fertility specialists can talk to you about treatments that can improve your chance of conceiving when you’re in your late 30s or 40s.
Underlying Medical Condition
If you have an underlying medical condition that can affect fertility, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or endometriosis, schedule an appointment with a fertility doctor. These conditions can interfere with your ability to become pregnant, but fertility specialists can offer treatment options that make it possible for you to conceive.
